Jinsha and the ancient Shu world.
An archaeological starting point
The Jinsha Site Museum presents evidence of an ancient Shu center dating from approximately the twelfth to seventh centuries BCE. It offers a way to understand Chengdu’s past through material objects rather than a list of rulers.
Look at the materials
Gold, jade and ivory are among the significant finds described by the museum. The Sun and Immortal Birds gold ornament is a particularly recognizable object. Its imagery also appears in Chengdu’s contemporary visual identity.
Continue to Guanghan
Jinsha and Sanxingdui belong to the wider story of ancient Shu. Sanxingdui is in Guanghan, within Deyang; it should not be confused with a site in central Chengdu.
